If your document is larger than five pages, Docsmit requires you to use a 9×12 “Flat” envelope to ensure it can be mailed successfully.

Understanding the Envelope Capacity Error

The standard #10 business envelope has a maximum capacity of five sheets of paper. If your document exceeds this limit, the system will prevent you from sending it and display the following error message:

“Error: A #10 envelope can only hold up to 5 sheets but your document uses [X]. Please change your document or the sending options.”

How to Switch to a Flat Envelope

To resolve this error and send your larger document, you must change the envelope type.

  1. While composing your mail piece, locate the small truck icon next to the “To:” field.
  2. Click the truck icon to open the mailing options.
  3. From the list, select “Flat Envelope”.

(You can add a screenshot here showing the truck icon and the envelope selection menu.)

Envelope Options and Capacity

Here is a quick comparison of the two envelope types:

A table outline the maximum sheet count and additional costs associated with #10 and flat envelopes.

The system will automatically calculate and add the additional postage to your order total when you select the Flat envelope option.

Choosing the right envelope is easy and important to avoid mailing delays.
